What is a Garden Cultivator?
A garden cultivator also known as a garden tiller or a ripper is a garden attachment that basically rips through the ground breaking up old soil making it easier for new seeds to spread roots and breath. Cultivators come in a few different types such as a gas powered manual tiller that you walk behind. There’s also the kind that you pull behind a tractor and of course both come in different variations and sizes.
Benefits of Cultivating a Garden
There are a number of benefits of cultivating a garden. First of all cultivating allows more water to soak in soil and reach the seeds, it also gives the seeds more room to breath and more room for their roots. With the seed root being more spread out they can absorb more nutrients and ultimately grow heather and faster. Another benefit of cultivating is that by cultivating you are digging up old vegetation and weeds which again gives the seeds more of a chance to grow.

Can I use a plow instead of a cultivator?
Depending on what you want to do. Plows are great for plowing and can be used to cultivate your first pass before the crops are planed however after crops you are much better off with a Cultivator.
